[Rebecca] Coleman opened All Pets in 1987 on S.H. 51 east of Stillwater, but moved the clinic into Stillwater in April.

[Donna] Slater had worked at All Pets since 1997, though she also worked in Tulsa and at the OSU veterinary hospital during that time. She also had her own clinic, Lakeside Veterinary Services, which she opened four years ago, providing equine services.

With the move into Stillwater, the two veterinarians have become partners in the All Pets clinic.

All Pets is a full-service veterinary clinic, specializing in the care of small dogs and cats, and exotic animals. The clinic does vaccinations, dental, surgery and added a new digital x-ray machine this year.

Coleman also specializes in acupuncture, homeopathy and chiropractic care, and has a large referral business from people living in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Wichita, Kan., wanting acupuncture care for their horses.

Slater also provides ambulatory equine services.

The move into Stillwater was necessitated to better serve clients living in Stillwater.

”We have a lot of clients who live in Stillwater, and this location better serves them,” Slater said.

The clinic features a large area for display of cat and dog products as well as examination rooms and separate areas for dogs and cats.

Slater explained keeping the cars separate from the dogs prevents the cats from being stressed by hearing the dog bark all the time, pointing out the animals cannot see each other.

The glass-enclosed cat area features a condo area where a family of cats can play, or one cat at time. Slater said this is a concept development about 10 years ago.

The clinic also features an outdoor play yard for the dogs.

Coleman and Slater said a main reason for selecting the Fountain Square location was the proximity of a water feature where they would like to have the developer create a dog park.

Slater said Tulsa and Oklahoma City have dog parks where people take their pets and turn them loose and let them play, though the pet owners are responsible for their animals.

She said the area would need to be fenced but felt the dog park would enhance the quality of life of Stillwater.

All Pets provides a variety of natural food products for cats and dogs.

Coleman said she did a lot of research before she chose the food lines offered through the clinic, adding the items are available only at the clinic.

Coleman said the food products are more healthy for pets and that the clinic offers two versions of raw meat products. She also provides in-home diets plan for animals.

The veterinarians say dogs and cats are meat eaters by nature, and that a diet of raw meat, organ meats, bone and fat is what the animal would eat in its natural habitat.
